Who Could Axe For More

Awhile ago I came across a listing from Guitar World Magazine of the "Top 100 Guitar Solos" based on their readers' input.

Here are the top 10:

1. Stairway To Heaven - Jimmy Page
2. Eruption - Edward Van Halen
3. Freebird - Collins/Rossington
4. Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour
5. All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
6. November Rain - Slash
7. One - Kirk Hammet
8. Hotel California - Don Felder/Joe Walsh
9. Crazy Train - Randy Rhoads
10. Crossroads - Eric Clapton

(click here for the complete list)

I've obtained the whole list of 100 and have been listening to them on my nonPod (which just returned from Cuba). Not sure that I'm in total agreement but there are some great riffs on these tunes.

Boyz: if you're interested I've uploaded the 100 mp3s to a gmail acct. Email me if you'd like access.

Is that 100 guitar solo MP3s or the entire song?

Also, us nerds are wondering where the hell are Joey Santiago and Doug Martsch on this list?

That being said, how are your Russians at finding out of print albums?

Hendrix's "... Watchtower" should be higher.

Also, Ira Kaplan (Yo La Tengo) kept the solo alive throughout the '90s while the hipsters moved away from them.

And Slash, of course. Two solos in November Rain and they're both sweet.
