Swedish Meatballs

According to CBC:

The franchise leader in goals and points for the Vancouver Canucks is heading to the New York Rangers.

New York signed unrestricted free agent Markus Naslund on Thursday to a two-year deal. Naslund, who turns 35 on July 20, has spent the last 12 seasons with the Canucks, seven as team captain.

The contract is for $8 million US, with a $1-million signing bonus. Naslund earned $6 million US last season, but his production has declined in recent years.

Now what are the 'nuckleheads going to do with all that extra $$.

They should have resigned him here for that cash. There's not much out there for Gillis to work with now. He's going to have to trade for scoring, and he'll give up too much.

The idiot fans in this city pushed Naslund out.

How did the idiot fans push him out??
I thought it was Orca Bay not offering him any kind of deal that made him decide to go with New York offer?

I don't think so. Despite what many players say, I'm pretty sure that many of them listen to everything said about them. If you'd listened to local radio the past half season they kept on bashing him and saying he's finished as a player.

I'm pretty sure that Gillis would have offered Naslund something close, if not the same, to end his career as a Canuck. But why would he want to play in this environment?

I hope he lights it up, which I think he will as he will likely be playing with either Drury or Gomez, both better players than the Canucks have had here in the past two seasons.

Gillis is not working out too well right now. I'm thinking it's a combination of GMs not wanting to deal with someone who screwed them over player salaries for the last decade, and players (or their agents) pissed at Canuck ownership because of the unnecessary firing of Dave Nonis.

Get real quint - he ordered the Volvo with no 1040AM capability - I read it on the Canucks.Com fanpages! He was way too busy being the best ever Vancouver Canuck to read/listen to anything. Later Linden, glad you got your night, but last evening made for the worst moment in Nucks history. Nazzy was the classiest, most skilled player ever to don the Orca.
